Lyric Live Theater in Newburg will present "Mrs. Bellamy for the Legislature" for the next two weekends in June.
The play, based on a true account of the women's rights movement, was written and directed by Wayne Horine of Devils Elbow.
The play will be shown Friday and Saturday, June 21-22, and Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, at 7:30 p.m. each night. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $6.
The play follows the story of the political career of Mary Godat Bellamy, who was born in Missouri, and entered politics at the age of 19 in the year 1888.
Bellamy will be portrayed by Cheryl Hicks, who has performed as a leading lady in several shows at the theater in recent years.
Nancy Duncan, Deb Headley, Christiana Young, Cliff Parks and Mark Mather are newcomers to the Lyric Live Theater while Arianna Young, Evelyn Horine, Blythe Horine, Pat Lazzotte and Cameron White are returning as supporting cast members.
