  • The VFW in St. James will host the first CARE event this Friday evening.
CARE (Cancer Awareness Rally Events) is a local charity recently founded by Chad Picker of St. James after the passing of his father, Stanley Picker of St. James.
Upon watching his father succumb to cancer, Chad has since pledged to spend his life helping others by hosting rallies and fundraising events for charitable cause. Although the main motivation for starting this charity was cancer, CARE will not limit its aid to only cancer causes.
For example, this event will also be the first-ever CARE Concert and will feature local bands Bad Wolf and Merkaba, who will come together to put on a show for the benefit of the disabled children at locally-operated Graystar, which is in need of having its handicap van repaired, which it uses for group field trips, daily outings and transport for its medical needs. Keep an eye out for flyers as the date gets closer, for more details.
CARE would like the surrounding area to know that it welcomes inquiries and aid requests. Every request will be deeply considered. Contact information is as follows:
    C.A.R.E. LLC
    Founder: Chad Picker
Address: 19825 County Road 1250 St. James, MO 65559
    Phone: 573-263-0864
CARE would also like to take this time to ask for volunteers, venues, sponsors and donations to come forward.
At present, CARE is hoping for a new donated lawn mower or donated money to purchase a new mower to prepare for the mowing season and begin offering CARE Cuts, a lawn mowing service for hire, in which 10 percent of proceeds go to cancer awareness and victim relief efforts.
In the future, CARE Cuts may become available for free to those whose conditions qualify (such as: elderly, terminally ill or disabled). However, this service is subject to approval and funds availability.
Other services offered and events that people can look forward to seeing from CARE will be:
CARE Q’s - public barbecues for cancer charity.
CARE Crawls - pub crawls for cancer charity.
CARE Collections - dedicated times and places for the collection of recyclables or needed goods.
CARE Cans - change collection canisters set out at local businesses.
CARE Crisis - aid, comfort and cleanup in the event of a local crisis.
CARE Fight Fairs - MMA entertainment events.
CARE Snow Clearings - snow and ice removal service.
CARE Flair - the sale of CARE advertisement and cancer awareness merchandise.
Hopefully much more to come in the future.
CARE would like to ask that the people of St. James and the surrounding areas embrace this charity and for everyone to remember that there isn’t a single person out there whose life hasn’t been touched by cancer or hardship.
