On Wednesday, June 5, Republican Jason Smith, who won the vacant seat in Missouri's Eighth District, was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives less than 18 hours after Missouri polling locations for the special June 4 election closed.
Smith captured over 67 percent of the vote and won 28 of the 30 counties in the Eighth District.
