A man who had been missing from a Rolla hotel since Tuesday morning was found safe in Jefferson City early Wednesday morning.
Larry Scott Smith, 34, was found by Missouri Capitol Police Wednesday around 4 a.m. after an endangered person advisory was issued for him Tuesday evening.
Detective Sgt. Ken Nakanishi, of the Rolla Police Department, said he took the missing person report around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Family members went to check on Smith Tuesday morning but could not locate him or his vehicle at the hotel. Instead, his family found Smith’s children unattended in the hotel room. His children had been staying with Smith.
Nakanishi said Smith had been placed in the hotel after seeking shelter with a domestic violence center.
The endangered person advisory stated that Smith had been depressed over marital issues and was recently placed on new psychiatric medication which he stopped taking Sunday.
Nakanishi said arrangements were made for one of Smith’s family members to travel to Jefferson City to get Smith.
Smith’s children were handed over to their mother. It is unknown why Smith traveled to Jefferson City.
