Longtime performer and songwriter Jenna Bilyeu (Baker) of Dixon has advanced in one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious songwriting competitions, the Texaco Country Showdown Songwriters Contest.
Bilyeu was up against more than 40 other songwriters from across the nation whose material had made it past the initial judges and allowed to enter the competition.
Her song “Rollin’ Stone” made the Top 5 of the month’s contest. From there, a panel of judges in Nashville made up of professional songwriters picked the winner, which was Bilyeu’s original song.
From here “Rollin’ Stone” will be placed in the national finals this fall against other winners from throughout the year.
When asked about winning this round of competition and moving on to the finals, Bilyeu said, “It’s such an honor to make it this far and to know that some of the professionals in Nashville appreciated my work. From here, who knows what will happen. I will just keep performing and writing and wherever God takes me with it is where I will go.”
Currently Bilyeu is playing music across Missouri with her band Jenna Bilyeu and The Back Roads Band.
Their next local performance will be at The Barn in Dixon Saturday, June 22, where Bilyeu and her band, along with Miles from Nowhere, will be entertaining.
