The Rolla High School track team is sending 10 athletes and the St. James High track squad two to the Missouri Section 3 Meet competition Saturday at Ozark High School.
RHS advanced five boys and five girls in a combined seven different events from last week's district competition to Saturday's Class 4 Section 3 event. The St. James Tigers send one girl and one boy to the Class 3 Section 3 Meet. This is the first year sectional meets are including schools from two different classifications at the same location.
The top four finishers in each event at sectionals move on to the Missouri Class 4 and Class 3 Track and Field Championships, to be held May 24-25 at Dwight Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
Sectional qualifiers for Rolla include junior Shannon McCaul in the 800-meter run; freshman Sophia Holmes in the 400-meter run, and the 4x800-meter relay team of McCaul, senior Katie Brow, junior Madison Collier and junior Jade DeShurley for the girls and junior Aaron Froehlich in both the triple jump and long jump; senior Alex McCormack in the 300-meter hurdles, and the 4x400-meter relay team McCormack, sophomore James Kosbar, sophomore Jordan Kaden and junior Hunter Short for the boys.
Competing at the Class 3 Section 3 Meet for St. James are senior Shelby Ridenhour in the girls' 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump and sophomore Richard Byfield in the boys' 300-meter hurdles.
