A Salem woman died Saturday morning after the vehicle she was driving ran off Highway 32, struck a curb and a parked semi-trailer in a parking lot and caught fire.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Joy E. King, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dent County Deputy Coroner Benjamin Pursifull. Her next of kin have been notified.
The patrol's crash report stated that King was driving a 1995 Cadillac DeVille westbound on Highway 32, one mile west of Salem, when the accident occurred. The report stated that the vehicle left the highway at a high rate of speed.
The patrol stated that she was wearing a seat belt. Her vehicle was totaled. The accident was reported at 9:50 a.m. May 4.
This is the fifth traffic-related fatality this year reported by the MSHP in Troop I, which covers Dent and five other south central Missouri counties. Her body was taken to Dent County Memorial Chapel.
