Thanks to a generous donation of materials, labor and time by the Phelps County Monument Company and Gabriele Crane, Inc., a new POW/MIA monument is the latest edition to the ever expanding Veterans Memorial Park, located on Southveiw Drive in Rolla.

The project is a partnership among members of the South Central Regional Veterans Group (SCRVG), the Phelps County Monument Company, Gabriele Crane, the City’s Public Works Department, and Parks and Recreation Department.

“In addition to thanking Larry Anson, owner of the Phelps County Monument Company, and Gene Gabriele, II, Director of Operations for Gabriele Crane, Inc., we would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Jeff Gresham and the Rolla Public Works crew for preparing the site for the monument,” said Jerry Bumpus. “And we would also like to thank Simon Yoakum, Parks and Recreation Foreman, and all of the City’s Parks and Recreation crew that have helped immensely with the maintenance, preparation and up-keep of the park throughout the year.”

The SCRVG is now taking applications for the sale of engraved memorial bricks which will be placed along the walkway to the POW/MIA memorial in the 11-acre Veterans Memorial Park.

More information and applications are available on the SCRVG. Website at
