Many have come to call Diana's Diner their home away from home, especially when they get a craving for homestyle cooking and good conversation.

But owner Diana Fuhring said this week she will close her doors next month after seven years.

"I'm just ready to do something else," said Diana. "I work too many hours, and running this place has become too time-consuming.

"I want to be able to spend time with my family, my grandbabies – and my garden."

Fuhring said she plans to close down on May 11, and she will hold an auction on May 19.

Diana, who owns the business with her husband, Carl, is a lifelong resident of St. James.
