  • A Newburg man was among 21 arrested on narcotics charges early Thursday morning by various law enforcement agencies during a roundup in Laclede County.
Dustin T. Lewis, 25, of Newburg, was arrested on two counts of sale of a controlled substance as a result of a long-term narcotics investigation.
Over approximately 24 months, officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) and the Lake Area Narcotic Enforcement Group (LANEG) were able to conduct a series of narcotic investigations involving the possession, distribution and sale of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, heroin and prescription medications.
The investigation involved 34 loosely affiliated individuals in and around the Laclede County area. Warrants for each defendant were obtained through the Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office prior to the mass arrest operation. There were multiple counts on many of the warrants.
Arrest teams consisted of members of the MSHP, LANEG, Laclede County Sheriff’s Department, Lebanon Police Department and Conway Police Department.
The individuals arrested in conjunction with the investigation were transported, processed and held for bond at the Laclede County Jail. Five of the individuals were previously incarcerated within facilities of various jurisdictions when they were arrested on charges stemming from this investigation.
During the course of the roundup, officers also made an arrest for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
