  • The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Rolla Police Department (RPD), Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Prevention Consultants of Missouri will hold a prescription and over-the-counter drug take-back event this Saturday, April 27, at the First Presbyterian Church parking lot in Rolla from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Members of the public may bring old prescription and over-the-counter medications to the church, and Sgt. Wayne Rapier, of the RPD, will be present to collect the drugs and dispose of them in a safe and responsible manner.
Drug take-back programs are designed to safely discard old and expired medicines and eliminate the chance of accidental ingestion by an unprescribed individual.
The Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act of 2010 seeks to reduce the risks of people, including teenagers, abusing prescription drugs, by permitting individuals to deliver their unused medications to responsible state and private drug take-back programs.
