Scoring early and often, the St. James High School baseball team clubbed the Owensville Dutchmen 16-0 in Four Rivers Conference action on Monday.
St. James improves to 5-13 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Owensville falls to 1-8 and 0-4.
The Tigers wasted little time, plating five runs in the top of the first inning. That was all St. James needed, but the visitors tacked on plenty more.
St. James got three runs each in the second and third frames and five more in the fifth.
The game was halted after five innings due to the run rule.
St. James outhit Owensville 11-2.
Troy Parker had a huge game, belting a homer, two singles and driving in five runs.
Also for the Tigers Justin Ray was 3-for-4 with an RBI; Jake Ford 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored; Jesse Hays had a hit, RBI and scored twice; Nathan Strait had a two-run double; Zack Russell had a hit, run and RBI; Zach Dean and Drew Lahnman each had a hit and RBI, and Austin Gibson scored three times and stole three bases.
Dean went the distance on the mound for the victory, allowing two hits, two walks and fanning four in the shutout.
