Saturday,April 20

The Annual Birding and BBQ at Montauk State Park will take place Saturday, April 20. Bring a dish to share. At 7:30 a.m., all carpoolers leave Kroger's parking lot in Rolla for trip to Montauk State Park. At 8:15 a.m. – Meet at the Old Pavilion. Carpool arrives and all people interested in joining our very own Backyard Birder, Mike Doyen, and Dan Hatch for a leisurely, low-stress stroll around the Park watching and listening for birds. Birding commences at 8:30 a.m. Mike typically stays on the paved roads and maintained paths along the river. Some un-even ground will be encountered with a minimum of steps to climb. The entire walk could be up to 3 miles, but you are free to go back to the pavilion at any time. There will be hotdogs, fixings, and bottled water.

Rolla High School's International Thespian Society Troupe 7826 is proud to present their original one-act comedy "Seven Shades of Murder" on Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in the Rolla Middle School Auditorium. The play will be followed by an improv performance from RHS' new Improv Performance troupe: Dramatically Incorrect. Tickets are free but seating is limited.

Noah Coleman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Penelope's Restaurant. The program will be "The DAR Schools" presented by Noah Coleman Chapter member, Parrie Veo. Visitors are always welcome. For more information call Susan at 364-7923.

Great Circle's Boys and Girls Town campus in St. James will host the inaugural Steps Towards the Future 5K Run this Saturday, April 20. The run will take place on the campus at 13160 Country Road 3160 in St. James and will begin at 9 a.m. Early registration is $20 per runner. Registration the day of the event is $25. The Doolittle Lions Club is having a bluegrass and gospel festival on April 20 from 2-9 p.m. at the Doolittle Community Hall it is free to the public. There will be a silent auction with over 60 items to include items from Branson shows and attraction, St. Louis Cardinals tickets, local restaurants, and much more. The music will be provided by Ambassadors of Grace, Jerry Rosa and the Rosa String Band, Shirley Robertson, The Wild Rose Band, New Blades of Grass, Sinners Saved, The Light House, and Hope .

Sunday, April 21

The Rolla Church Of the Nazarene will host a gospel sing featuring The Covenant Quartet & Becky Lercher Sunday, April 21, at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The Covenant Quartet reside around the Waynesville area and Lehrer resides in Waynesville. Refreshments will be served. Julia Usher, a celebrated pastry chef, food writer and food stylist, will conduct a cookie decorating workshop Sunday, April 21, from 2-5 p.m. at Meramec Vineyards. The Vichy Volunteer Fire Department will host its first dinner of the year—a whole hog sausage and chicken and dumpling dinner— on Sunday, April 21, at the firehouse in Vichy. The all-you-care-to-eat dinner, served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include whole hog sausage, chicken and dumplings, country hash browns, cole slaw, baked beans and homemade desserts. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children. Carry-outs will be available. The firehouse is located in Vichy at 14812 Highway 63. Sigel Camp #614, Department of Missouri, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will be holding their monthly meeting on the Columbia College campus in Rolla, Missouri, on Sunday, April 21, at 3 p.m. Membership is open to males ages 14 and over who are a direct or collateral ancestor of a Union soldier of the American Civil War. All interested individuals are invited to attend.
