The Rolla High School junior varsity track team competed in a meet Tuesday at Jefferson City High School.
Highlights of the meet include first places earned by Kevin Gao in the boys' mile and Jazmyn Youngblood in the girls' 400. Also winning was the boys' 4x200-meter relay team of Adam Dent, Thomas McCash, Aita Ikuenobe and Lefatshe Lefatshe as they, too, finished in first place.
The relay teams continued their outstanding performances with second places for the boys' 4x100 squad of Aaron Read, Lefatshe Lefatshe, Will Crutcher and Lee Clancy and the boys' 4x800 team of Will Crutcher, Greg Wilkins, Matt Bryant and Chandler Gruener.
In addition, to the relay Matt Bryant also finished in second both the boys' 800 and 3,200.
Third place finishes were earned by Jon Knaeble in the boys' long jump, Chandler Gruener in the boys' mile, Emily O'Neal in girls' 100 hurdles and Jakob Pommerenkein the boys' 300 hurdles.
Fourth place finishes were captured by Lauren Adams in the girls' triple jump, Lindsey Moore in the girls' 100 hurdles, Kevin Gao in boys' 300 hurdles and Aita Ikuenobe in boys' triple jump.
The RHS varsity team was scheduled to compete in the Washington-Nix Relays on Tuesday. But due to the weather the event was postponed. No rescheduled date has been set yet.
Rolla track athletes will be on the road again today to attend the Springfield Scarlett Freshman-Sophomore Invitational, to be held at JFK Stadium.
