Shockley earns All-America honors for Lindenwood.
The Lindenwood University wrestling team traveled to Allen, Texas March 14–16, 2013 to compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association's (NCWA) National Championships.
As a team the Lindenwood Lions placed fourth in national competition.
Three former Rolla High School wrestlers – junior Blayne Shockley, junior Masen Ridenhour and freshman Marcus Prosser – participated in the national event.
Shockley, a 125-pounder and captain for the Lindenwood squad, placed third at nationals, earning All-America honors with a 6-1 record. As the NCWA Great Plains Conference champion, Shockley was seeded sixth overall for at nationals.
Earlier this year, Shockley went 5-1 with two falls at the NCWA National Duals in Dalton, Ga. The Lions became the 2013 National Duals champions by defeating last year's champs from Liberty University. Shockley also placed fourth at the NCAA Division II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Conference Championships in Edmond, OK.
A returning All-America at 157, Ridenhour finished second in the NCWA Great Plains Conference Championships despite suffering an ankle injury. While competing with the injured ankle Ridenhour won two matches at the national tournament. He also won three matches at the National Duals in Georgia, two by fall.
Prosser was a 133-pound walk-on at Lindenwood and proved his worth by helping the team win the National Duals Championship and by placing third in the Great Plains Conference to qualify for nationals.
Prosser won three matches at nationals.
Missing from the Lions lineup was another former Rolla High standout, Chris Sanders, a national qualifier last year. Sanders missed this year's postseason due to a shoulder injury in December which required surgery.
More than 450 wrestlers participated in the national tournament competition.
