The Rolla High School baseball team dropped a 5-2 Ozark Conference decision to the West Plains Zizzers on the road Friday.
Rolla falls to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the league.
West Plains got all the runs it needed with a three-run third frame. The Zizzers made it 5-0 with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Rolla got both ot its runs in the top of the sixth, as senior Michael Pickrell reached on an error, stole second base and scored on an RBI double by sophomore Collin Nash. Senior David Roberts then plated Nash with another RBI double.
But that would be it for the Bulldogs, who were limited to just four hits. Rolla had runners on third base in both the fourth and fifth innings but couldn't convert.
Pickrell, Nash, Roberts and senior Zach Lewis got the RHS hits.
Junior Seth Stevens was the starting and losing pitcher for Rolla, working 4 2/3 innings. Lewis finished up on the mound. The Zizzers totaled six hits.
"West Plains is a solid club," said RHS head coach Karl Odenwald. "Their pitcher threw really well. They scored when we gave them extended opportunities.
"We had an error in the second (inning), an error and passed ball in the fifth. They did a good job taking advantage of our mistakes."
West Plains also won the junior varsity game 6-2. The Rolla jayvee squad scored two runs in the first on walks, errors and one hit.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Camdenton in another league game on Tuesday, starting at 4:30 p.m. on FCNB Field at the Bray Sports Complex. On Wednesday Rolla is to play on the road at Jefferson City High.
