Lady Bulldogs crack first regular-season Class 2 state poll.

It's amazing what a year of seasoning plus an influx of talented newcomers will do!
After suffering through the first losing season in program history just a year ago, the Rolla High School girls' soccer team now finds itself state-ranked.
In the first poll of the regular season selected by the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association on Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs were pegged No. 6 in Missouri Class 2.
This is the first year in program history the Lady Bulldogs are not classified in the largest school division. There are three classes, with Class 3 being the largest by school enrollment.
From a rare off-season in 2012 the Lady Bulldogs have bounced back nicely, having already passed last season's victory total with a 9-1 start.
Rolla's lone loss was to Washington 2-1 in the second game of the season. RHS has beaten two state-ranked opponents so far in Union (No. 8 in Class 2) and Springfield Catholic (No. 4 in Class 1).
The Lady Bulldogs are currently riding an eight-game winning streak.
There are plenty of heavy-hitters remaining on Rolla's regular-season schedule, including Jefferson City High, Jefferson City Helias and opponents in the Quincy (Ill.) Notre Dame Tournament along with the usual Ozark Conference battles involving such schools as Springfield Glendale (No. 8 in Class 3), Waynesville, Joplin, Camdenton and Lebanon.
"It is nice to see the girls rewarded for working so hard," said RHS head coach Mike Howard. "We were close last year in a bunch of games and with a few new faces added and another year of maturity we have seen quite a difference from last season.
"It is a fun group to be around and I am excited for them to see some early-season success."
