The Rolla High School boys' tennis team made it to the round of 16 in both the singles and doubles divisions Wednesday during the 26-team Springfield Invitational, held Wednesday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Oklahoma state power Jenks dominated the competition and won with 44.5 points while Joplin was second with 29, Springfield Glendale third with 27.5, Springfield Central fourth with 21 and Branson fifth with 14.
The tournament format had to be adjusted due to rain on the outdoor courts at Cooper.
Jenks had two of the top four finishers in both the singles and doubles divisions.
Joplin's Jeremy Lynn was the singles champion, defeating Jenks' Chase Gordon in the championship round.
For the RHS Bulldogs Nathan Graham made it to the round of 16 in singles, beating Tyrone Hou of Webb City 6-2 in the first round and topping Nixa's Garrett Bacon 6-1 in the second round. In the third round Graham lost to Jenks' Mitchell Worley 6-0.
Rolla's other singles player, Jarod Rieth, lost to Glendale's Jacob Young 6-1 in the first round.
In doubles competition the Rolla duo of Aidan Gelles-Parker Nesbitt also made it to the round of 16, beating Greenwood's Gavin Litherland-Nofal Zubair 6-0 in the first round and Forsyth's Seth Cramen-Collin Stauffer 6-1 in the second round. In the third round the Rolla duo lost 6-1 to Ryan Bunselmeyer-Devin Cavero of Springfield Central.
Rolla's other doubles team of Michael Janke-Sven Olberg beat Columbia Hickman's Jacob Muehow-Blake Wisniewski 6-4 in the first round and lost to Forsyth's Donovan Derby-Garrett Gerth 6-4 in the second round.
The Bulldog netters are scheduled to host West Plains in a dual meet Monday, starting at 4 p.m. on the Ber Juan Park courts.
