  • Chancellor’s Fellows poster presentation winners announced at Missouri S&T

  • Four graduate students at Missouri University of Science and Technology recently received awards for their submissions to the third annual Chancellor’s Fellows research poster presentation.
     
    An awards banquet was held on the Missouri S&T campus April 2. Twelve posters were displayed at the poster presentation on March 13.
     
    Chancellor’s Fellows are selected based on academic excellence and other competitive criteria.
     
    Elaine Light from the graduate studies office at S&T and Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader welcomed the participants, with Schrader presenting awards to the following students:
     
    First place: Krista Limmer, a Ph.D. student in materials science and engineering from Rolla, for her research on high-strength steel alloy design.
     
    Second place: Jaime George, a Ph.D. student in materials science and engineering from Hornell, N.Y., for her research on using micro-Raman spectroscopy to study dissolution of borate glasses used for bone and soft tissue repair.
     
    Third place: Jordan Lee Wilson, a graduate student in environmental engineering from Nixa, Mo., for his research on using beach modifications and waterfowl management to control E. coli contamination at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
     
    Honorable mention: Grace Harper, a graduate student in environmental engineering from Wentzville, Mo., for her research on green infrastructure as an alternative to large-scale grey infrastructure projects for stormwater management.
