Freshman midfielder Caroline Victor scored on a blast from 25 yards out in the second half to give the Rolla High School girls' soccer team a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Union Lady Wildcats Friday.
The game had been scheduled for March 28 but was backed up due to weather.
That moved the Lady Bulldogs to 8-1, which equals last year's season victory total.
Freshman Katie Hudson recorded her fifth shutout of the season in goal.
It was an impressive victory over an opponent that will be favored to reach the sectional round of the Missouri Class 2 playoffs against the winner of Rolla's district.
It was the first loss of the season for Union, now 6-1.
"We played a very poor first half, but were able to get to half tied thanks to some great play from Katie," said RHS head coach Mike Howard. "Then we were able to get organized and turn the game a little bit in the second half. Caroline scored a great goal. London (Clift) has found her spot on the back line; she reads the game so well and is running the show back there.
"Aysen (Malone) marked Bethany Coons in the second half and did a real good job on her."
Coons, Union's sophomore who scored 55 goals last season, has already verbally committed to Mizzou.
Rolla also won the junior varsity game 2-1. Victor and Kaden Curtis scored the jayvee goals for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs are slated to host Springfield Hillcrest in Ozark Conference play on Tuesday, with jayvee action starting at 4 p.m. and the varsity contest to follow on Kiwanis Field at the Bray Sports Complex.
