  • Shelves are being stocked and employees are being hired at the new Dollar Tree store in Rolla, which is set to open Friday, April 5.

A sign on the building’s front doors states that the store will open at 9 a.m. April 15. Chelle Davis, spokesperson for the company, said grand opening activities are planned for the weekend of April 5-7.

The new store, located at 901 Strobach St., is located in the same building as Hibbett Sports. The store is the former location of Fashion Bug, which went out of business and moved out of the location late last year.

The estimated construction cost of the renovations to the location is $494,395, according to the building permit filed with the City of Rolla. The new store will occupy a space of about 11,000 square feet.

“We’re very excited about the new store and we’re very proud to be part of the Rolla community,” Davis said. “We look forward to opening and serving all of our customers in the area.”

Davis said most Dollar Tree stores typically employ between 12 and 15 permanent part-time employees and a few full-time positions, such as managers.

The Dollar Tree store in Rolla is the first and only one in Phelps County. The nearest Dollar Tree is in St. Robert. Dollar Tree has more than 4,000 stores nationwide.
