Fort Leonard Wood’s Army Community Service (ACS) plans to host a military spouse job fair from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the National Guard Armory, Building 986, located on Iowa Avenue.
More than 30 employers have signed up to participate in the third job fair that ACS has sponsored for military spouses.
The purpose of the fair is to give business owners the opportunity to meet with military spouses who offer a diverse range of educational backgrounds, qualifications and skill sets that will contribute to business success.
Dan Danzo, ACS employment counselor, said the job fair is a way to honor spouses who move with their soldier.
“Spouses make sacrifices and often leave their jobs behind to move with their soldier,” he said. “The job fair is one way that we have to offer employment support to spouses here at Fort Leonard Wood.”
ACS offers several résumé, interviewing techniques and dress for success workshops throughout the year to help military spouses prepare for their job search, he said.
Danzo advises job seekers to bring at least 10-12 copies of their résumé with a cover letter that speaks about their knowledge, skills and abilities. He also recommends business attire.
“Some employers will be interviewing right at the job fair, and dressing accordingly can make a difference,” Danzo said.
Danzo said there is still time for interested employers to sign up to participate in the fair.
