  • Family of five displaced by fire

  • No injuries in Friday morning blaze

  • No injuries were reported in a fire that caused $10,000 damage to a mobile home Friday morning, displacing a family of five.
    "The trailer had smoke showing from the exterior, and all residents were out of the trailer" when firefighters arrived at Lot B47 of Stately Mansions mobile home park, 11660 Highway 72, according to Eric R. Nylander, deputy chief of the Rolla Rural Fire protection District.
    The fire was reported at 7:25 a.m., and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, contained to one room and contents.
    "The scene was called under control at 7:59, but fire crews remained on scene for overhaul until all RRFPD units and personnel cleared the scene at 8:33," Nylander said.
    The fire is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected he said.
    Four fire units and 11 firefighters responded from the Rolla Rural district. St. James Fire department was automatically called to the structure fire, but a "disregard' call was made before they arrived
    American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteers are helping the family.
    Two volunteers met with the family and provided financial resources for the clients to purchase food, clothing, shoes and a two-night stay in a local motel.
    Clients also received comfort kits, which contain personal hygiene items.
