Law enforcement agencies believe a bomb threat made Saturday afternoon at the Rolla Walmart may also be connected to bomb threats made the same day at other Walmart stores in Missouri.
The Rolla Police Department was notified of the bomb scare at the Rolla Walmart Saturday around 4:40 p.m.
The Rolla Walmart was evacuated and Rolla police searched the store but nothing was found. The threat was made by phone.
Rolla Police Chief Mark Kearse said when a bomb threat is made at a business, the police let the store owners decide if evacuation is necessary. In this case, the Rolla store was evacuated.
Kearse was unsure how long shoppers and store employees were evacuated for.
The Rolla Walmart, along with Walmart stores in Fenton and Desloge, also received similar threats.
A spokesperson for St. Louis County Police told KTVI that once Walmart realized the threat was a hoax, shoppers were allowed to return.
The investigation at the Rolla Walmart is ongoing.
