Student death under investigation

  • A Missouri University of Science and Technology student was found dead this morning in the residence hall where she lived on the campus. The matter is being investigated by campus and local law enforcement agencies.

    Missouri S&T police were notified at 2:34 a.m. today that Kaitlin D. Brown, 19, of Mission, Kan., had died in Farrar Hall on campus. She was a sophomore studying business and information technology at the university.

    "On behalf of our entire university family, I extend my deepest sympathies to Kaitlyn's family, loved ones and friends," Missouri S&T Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader said. "Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved her."

    Members of Missouri S&T's counseling staff have been providing counseling services for students in the residence hall. Students who wish to seek counseling services may contact the office of counseling, disability support and student wellness at 204 Norwood Hall on campus or by emailing counsel@mst.edu.
