  • RJH singers ‘superior’ at Lebanon Festival

  • The Rolla Junior High Choirs received Superior “I” ratings from the judging panel at the Lebanon Junior High Music Festival held Saturday, March 9.

  • The Rolla Junior High Choirs received Superior “I” ratings from the judging panel at the Lebanon Junior High Music Festival held Saturday, March 9.
    The Concert Chorale performed “Hallelujah Amen” from Judas Maccabeus by G. F. Handel, and “Dreams of Thee” by Eric Barnum. Christine Midha accompanied on flute.
    The combined eighth- and ninth-grade girls performed “Dance on My Heart” by Alan Koepke, and “Closer to the Flame” by David Lantz III.  
    The Rolla Community Children’s Choir also participated in the festival and received Superior “I” ratings, performing “Dancing Tree” by Nancy Gifford, and “Petit Enfant” by Martin and Shaw. Midha accompanied the RCCC on flute.   
    All of the choral ensembles were directed by Jeff Sandquist and accompanied by Kathy Mazzeo. 
     
    In addition to the outstanding performances by the choirs, there was one ensemble and seven soloists from Rolla who performed in the solo and small ensemble portion of the festival. All of the soloists and the ensemble received superior “I” ratings from the judges.  
    Soloists included Libby Adams (eighth grade), Sophia Holmes, Sarah Jennings, Elise Mazzeo, Aideen McEnaney, Meredith Sowers, and David Xiao (ninth grade).
    Soloists were prepared and coached by Sandquist and Mazzeo.
    The girls ensemble included Libby Adams, Kayle Cohen, Sophia Holmes, Elise Mazzeo, Aideen McEnaney, Meredith Sowers and Christina Woelk.
