The Community Partnership's Fit Helps program and Coterie of Missouri S&T invite area residents to participate in Wellness Walks to be held weekdays at 8:30 a.m. at the Green Acres Trail. All ages are welcome to participate in this one-hour walk Monday through Friday each week, and you may walk at your own pace and distance.
"We will meet at the parking lot off of Olive at the ball field," explained Fit Helps coordinator Kirsten McIntyre. "We plan to walk each weekday, unless there is lightning or a blizzard. On Thursdays we welcome bicyclists to join us."
McIntyre said that the program will be a way for people to begin a healthy habit, and enjoy the outdoors.
"We're so pleased with the partnership we have made with Coterie for this walking program," McIntyre continued. "We hope to see a lot of participation in this program. There is no charge to participate, and we'll also be giving away Fit Helps freebies."
Fit Helps is a health and wellness initiative under the auspices of The Community Partnership, a non-profit organization serving families and individuals in Phelps and surrounding counties.
Funding for the Fit Helps program is provided by the Healthy and Active Communities of the Missouri Foundation for Health.
Coterie of Missouri S&T promotes the education of women through scholarships at Missouri University of Science and Technology, as well as providing social activity for Coterie members.
