Captain Elvis H. (Bill) Burton passed away at his home in Rolla, Missouri on February 7, 2013. He was born in Champaign, Illinois on August 15, 1923 to the late Elvis and Blanch Burton.
In 1945 he took part in the Pacific during WWII against Japan. He was a navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps and earned the Distinctive Flying Cross, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and WWII Victory Ribbon. On returning to the U.S. he joined the National Guard but finished in the Reserves and served 24 years until retirement.
Elvis is survived by his wife, Alma of Rolla; two sons Larry Burton & wife Vickie of Salem, MO and Pat Burton & fiancé Delberta of Rolla; sisters Betty Lou Guillet & husband Bob of Houston, TX and Sue Hulsey & husband Richard of Springfield, MO; grandsons Phillip Rowan & wife Teri of Springfield, Eric Rowan & wife Ann of Chicago, IL and Patrick Burton and special friend Kendal of Licking, MO and Bradley McEntire & wife Lynette of Branson, MO; granddaughter Margie Firestine of Rolla; special niece Measha McEntire & husband Milton of Springfield, MO and twelve great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Graveside services for Captain Elvis H. (Bill) Burton will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11 AM at Lake Springs Cemetery in Lake Springs, Missouri.
