More winter weather is on its way to the Rolla area.
So just how much snow should Phelps county residents expect? It depends on where in the county you live.
Andy Boxell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Springfield said Phelps County is going to experience a variant of weather conditions over the next 24 hours.
People in the Rolla area should prepare for 3-5 inches of snow. Locations to the north of Rolla should expect slightly more — as much as 5-6 inches, while areas to the south should expect less snow, according to Boxell.
Boxell says the precipitation will begin this afternoon with light sleet and rain which will transition to snow as is gets dark.
The heaviest periods of snow will fall between midnight and 6 a.m. Tuesday.
