Beautiful ballads, singing orphans, a poignant storyline, huge production numbers full of dancing pickpockets, dramatic sets, costumes, lighting, and a live orchestra of some of the best musicians in the area combine for Fine Linen’s upcoming production of the beloved musical “Oliver!”

The Tony Award-winning musical by Lionel Bart is based on Charles Dicken’s classic novel ‘Oliver Twist,’ and has been delighting audiences since it premiered 50 years ago with the vivid portrayal of Dickens’ timeless characters and the ever popular story of the boy who asked for more.

Fine Linen is presenting the show with all the traditional songs including “As Long as He Needs Me,” “Consider Yourself,” “Reviewing the Situation,” with revised orchestration and a brighter, more energetic adaptation which will be fun for the entire family.

With a cast of 75 from five to 60 years in age, this all local volunteer community theatre production is a must see event. Many of the elements that Rolla audiences expect in a Fine Linen show – Tracy McBride’s choreography, Amy Hobb’s costume designs, Josiah Nisbett’s lighting designs are all featured in this huge production. Joel Nisbett is music directing the actors and orchestra. Many of the talented performers from previous shows (Tale of Two Cities, Suessical) will be on stage, along with terrific new-comers to the Fine Linen family.

Fine Linen is once again offering tickets to this wonderful performance for $8-$12 for adults and $4-6 for children/students 16 and under.

“Oliver!” opens Thursday, February 28 at 7 p.m. Shows begin at 7 p.m. March 1-2, 4-5 and 7-9. Matinee performances are at 2 p.m. March 2 and March 9. All shows are at the Cedar Street Playhouse, (home of OAT).
