Joseph Larner Arata, of Rolla, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at the age of 86.
Joseph was born on September 23, 1926 to Joseph A. Arata and Anna C. Arata in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Joe was a 1944 graduate of Atlantic City High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in the V-12 program in WWII, through which he attended Brown University and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe was then drafted in to the United States Army and served in Korea as an infantryman with the 1st Cavalry Division. Joe also worked for New Jersey Bell, Bell Labs, and Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1984.
Joe had resided in Colts Neck, New Jersey since 1971. He most recently resided at Parkside Assisted Living in Rolla.
Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathleen.
Joe will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes: his son, John Arata and wife Lisa of Rolla; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren whom all reside in the Louisville, KY metropolis.
Arrangements have been made at the following times and locations to celebrate the life and legacy of Joseph Arata:
A visitation for family and friends of Joseph Arata will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the St. Gabriel Historic Church in Marlboro, New Jersey. Entombment will follow in the St. John’s Mausoleum in the St. Gabriel’s Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, February 22 at the Freeman Funeral Home in Freehold, NJ.
