After hearing that Phelps County’s sales tax deposit for January was down compared to the same month in 2012, Phelps County officials received better news for February’s deposit.
County Treasurer Carol Green presented updated sales tax figures to commissioners at their meeting Thursday morning.
The county’s sales tax deposit in February 2013 is up by 24.14 percent compared to February of 2012.
January’s deposit was down by 16.61 percent compared to January 2012.
It was noted that when comparing the two months from 2012 and 2013, the reduction for TIF (tax increment financing) payments to the City of Rolla for Kohl’s had not started until May of last year.
This year so far, county sales tax is down compared to last year by 0.85 percent, but when comparing the time frame from March 2012 to February 2013 and March 2011 to February 2012, the rate is up by 1.98 percent.
