Kiwanians of Rolla will serve you with pancakes today and fun-filled trivia tonight to raise money for various projects in the community, most of them to help the town’s young people.
The Noon Kiwanis Club will conduct its 66th annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Rolla High School cafeteria, so if you’re reading this newspaper while drinking your morning coffee, put down the cup, take this paper to RHS and read it while eating your fill of pancakes and sausage.
Or maybe you’d prefer to eat a pancake lunch or an early pancake supper.
Tickets at the door will be just $6 per person. Children under six eat for free.
On the menu: pancakes, sausage, orange drink, coffee, milk.
Starting at 10 and running until 2 or 3 p.m. will be some dancing and singing.
On the entertainment program are two clogging groups, Ozark Spirit and Rock-N-Country, World’s Finest Rolla German Band and two gospel-country groups.
The Noon Club uses the money raised at Pancake Day to help with high school scholarships, GRACE for Christmas, Project Graduation and other service projects.
After eating your fill, make time tonight when the Rolla Breakfast Kiwanis Club will conduct its fifth annual Trivia Night at the Phelps County Courthouse Multi-Purpose Room.
The doors open at 6 p.m., and play will start at 6:30.
Each table pays $80. For $10 each, you can buy two sets of bonus questions.
Retired Missouri S&T Professor Dick Miller concocts and asks the questions.
Last year, Trivia Night raised $1,500 for GRACE and other area service projects.
If you want to reserve a table, call 364-8567.
The Breakfast Club will also conduct a silent auction for two tickets to a play, “War Horse,” at the Fox Theater in St. Louis.
The tickets, a $160 value, are for seats on Row W on the main floor for the 2 p.m. curtain on Saturday, March 23. Included is a 12:30 buffet at the theatre.
Also to be auctioned are tickets to a couple of productions coming up at Leach Theatre on the S&T campus, “Dreamgirls” and “Doo-Wap.”
