Janet K. Thompson passed away January 19, 2013, at home in Carson City, Nevada. Janet was born on November 8, 1952, in Rolla, the daughter of John Clinton McMinn and Dorothy I. McMinn of Rolla. On June 1, 1973, Janet was united in marriage to David B. Thompson.
To this union, three children were born. Janet is survived by her husband, David B. Thompson of Carson City, Nevada, daughter, Rebecca Anciso and husband Timothy, of Fort Polk, Louisiana, son Jacob Thompson and wife Lena of Denver, Colorado, son Michael Thompson of Carson City, Nevada, two grandsons, Micah and Ean Anciso, parents, John Clinton McMinn and Dorothy I.
McMinn of Rolla, sister Pat Harris and husband Dennis of Rolla, sister Linda Hays and husband Alvis of Vienna, Missouri, two nieces and one nephew, her husband’s maternal grandmother, Monta McWhorter of Springfield, Missouri, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Jerry and JoAnn Thompson, and sisters-in-law Debbie Henson and Denise Smith.
Janet graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla in May 1973, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. Janet was a homemaker and enjoyed music, reading and traveling with her husband and children all over the United States. She was a very kind-hearted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She fought a long battle with cancer with grace and dignity and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.
