Rolla Daily News Columnist Linda Goff will be celebrating the release of her new book “The Skinny Budget Diet” on Saturday, January 26 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will be held in the foyer of Greentree Christian Church on the corner of 10th and Greentree in Rolla.

Goff’s book is currently on Amazon’s list of Hot New Releases (based on sales) under the category of health.

“The Skinny Budget Diet” tells the story of her 155-pound weight loss and gives tips on how others can achieve the same success without spending money on expensive diet plans. The book includes chapters on: meal planning, grocery shopping, building a system of support and prayer and staying stubborn when the scale doesn’t move.

“I wanted to write a weight loss book that teaches through stories and humor. I’ve read too many diet books that are as boring as the foods they want us to eat,” Goff says. “How can I talk about squeezing into a size 24 pair of jeans without confessing that I had to lay flat on my back in a Rolla department store to get them zipped? When the manager walked into the changing room and caught me wiggling into the merchandise, it was awkward. It was also incredibly funny.”

At Saturday’s event, there will be complimentary refreshments and an opportunity to have a copy of “The Skinny Budget Diet” signed by the author. “And don’t worry, we will be serving more than just celery sticks and water,” Goff jokes. “I know I wrote a diet book but meatballs can be a part of any weight loss plan in moderation.”

Goff’s book can be purchased locally at The Reader’s Corner, Rolla Books & Toys, Country Mart and at
