James Thomas “Tom” Callahan of Rolla, Missouri was born October 1, 1931 in Salem, Missouri to the late Rainey and Arzetta Rodencie (Cooley) Callahan, and entered into rest January 18, 2013 in St. James, Missouri at the age of 81.
Tom was united in marriage to Imogene Callahan on October 4, 1952 in Salem, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Tom and Imogene were blessed with sixty years of marriage together.
Tom attended the New Home Baptist Church in Newburg, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Imogene Callahan of Rolla; son Ellis Callahan & wife Angie of Rolla; daughter Janet Havens & husband Rick of Newburg; brother Francis Callahan of Edgar Springs; grandchildren Angie Blake & husband Tim, Amber Macormic & husband Aaron, Tomi Havens and Michael & Ryan Chick; and great granddaughter Mia Blake along with many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Callahan and sisters Rodencie Callahan, Eula Mahurin, Alice Wallmaen, Lillie Lewis and Ava Owen in addition to his parents.
Services for James Thomas “Tom” Callahan will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 2 PM at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, Missouri with Pastor Rod Farthing officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 21 from 12 to 2 PM at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be at Pea Ridge Cemetery in Doolittle, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home of St. James. Cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
