News to know
Pauline Phillips, writer of the "Dear Abby" advice column, has died at 94, according to the Associated Press. Her publicist said her death came after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The "Dear Abby" column has been written since 2002 by her daughter, Jeanne. The two had shared a byline since 2000. Phillips was the twin sister of "Ask Ann Landers" columnist, and competitor, Eppie Lederer. While competition between the two advice columns led to tension early in their careers, the two had reconciled before Lederer's death in 2002.
