  • Law enforcement agencies throughout two counties arrested 25 individuals on warrants for drug-related charges Tuesday.
The majority of the warrants stemmed from of a long-term investigation by the Rolla Police Department’s street crimes unit.
According to a press release from the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, there were a total of 50 warrants issued listing defendants from Joplin to Sullivan and Tuesday’s operation to make arrests concentrated on those with warrants who reside in Phelps and Crawford counties.
“These are people who are coming into Rolla who are buying drugs or products to make meth,” said RPD Chief Mark Kearse. “A lot of them travel here but live in another location.”
Kearse said the police department’s narcotics and street crimes units conduct these investigations and make arrests on a daily basis.
“We’re trying to send a message that we don’t want criminals here and for dealers to stay away,” Kearse said, adding that this can be a lesson for dealers in the area.
Officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, sheriff’s departments in Phelps and Crawford counties and police departments in Rolla, Cuba, Bourbon, Sullivan and Steelville initiated the roundup beginning at around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
“It was definitely a success,” said Lt. Rick Hope, of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, noting that the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group also helped.
“It was great work of the street crimes unit. It started with them and then all of the other agencies came together to arrest the suspects,” Hope said.
Both Kearse and Hope said there were no major incidents during the roundup, besides a couple of suspects who ran but were eventually caught. Both officials complimented all of the agencies involved.
Among those arrested were Jesse D. Kubley, 22, and Brady R. Kubley, 22, both of Rolla, for possession of a controlled substance.
At the time of their arrest Jesse Kubley was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and Brady Kubley was in possession of unknown white pills.
