George W. Jackson of Peoria, Illinois formerly of Rolla was born October 5, 1928 in Sherman, Texas to the late William and Mary (Blankenship) Jackson, and entered into rest December 12, 2012 in Peoria, Illinois at the age of 84.
George was united in marriage to Minnie Rosene (Spencer) Jackson on August 10, 1946 and to this union two children were born.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
George was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 32 years. He loved to fish and had a passion for his entire family.
Survivors include his wife Minnie Rosene Jackson of Peoria, IL; daughter Cathy Roe of Peoria, IL; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son David Jackson (1969); brothers Walter and Charles Jackson; sisters Eva Mae Hopewood, Cora Kimber and Margo Salttery; step sisters Edith Cheney and Marge Vanausdale; and step brother Fred Hopkins in addition to his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 16 from 5 to 7 PM at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Services for George W. Jackson will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11 AM with Pastor Norman Cartwright officiating.
