Helen Berniece Wilson, of Rolla, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the age of 78.
She was born on April 11, 1934 in Blooming Rose, MO to Clyde Sneed and Lucy (Mobley) Sneed. On December 7, 1949 she married Woodford Wilson and was a devoted wife for 63 years.
Helen loved to travel and fish in the Big Piney and Gasconade Rivers. She was an avid Cardinal fan and loved to play pinochle. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rolla. Helen made the best chicken and dumplings in the county. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen wrote, “I have plenty of the things that make me comfortable, most of all, I have the love of God in my heart.”
In addition to her parents, Clyde Sneed and Lucy Sneed McCollum, Helen was also preceded in death by four brothers, Roy Ellis, Vernon Sneed, Harvey Sneed and Wayne Blair; and four sisters, Mildred Ellis, Ethel Bullock, Verta Sneed and Velda Clark.
Helen will be sadly missed by her surviving family which includes: her husband, Woodford Wilson of Rolla; four children, Brenda Mittendorf, J.D. Wilson and fiancé Donarae Morrison, Monty Wilson and wife Amy, and Anita Young and husband Johnnie; all of Rolla; three sisters, Irene Heilig of Carthage, MO, Vena Sneed of Ceres, CA and Lois Dill and husband Bill of Grain Valley, MO; nine grandchildren, John Mittendorf, Barbara Southard, Whitney Young, Taylor Young, Stephanie Wilson, Elizabeth Young, Emily Sullivan, Erica Sullivan and Luke Sullivan; three great grandchildren, Zachary Mittendorf, Jasmine and Jamaya Bowman; and special friends, Charles and Kay Rawls.
A funeral service for Helen B. Wilson will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Null and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Johnston and Rev. Bruce Clark will officiate. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Waynesville. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 13 at the funeral home.
