  • Missouri University of Science and Technology will hold its annual Blasters Training Seminar Jan. 7-9, 2013, at the St. Charles Convention Center.
The course is of special interest to Missouri licensed blasters who need to renew their licenses in 2013.
The training is required before Missouri blasters license renewal and is good for up to one year before renewal is needed. The renewal process may be started six months before expiration.
The course director is Dr. Paul Worsey, professor of mining engineering at Missouri S&T. Worsey has more than 30 years of explosives and blasting experience and has been involved in blasting training for more than 20 years.
The annual seminar is a 20-hour course that provides participants with basic training for blasting in the crushed stone and construction industries.
It is of use to individuals concerned with other aspects of blasting, such as those used by underground mines and utility companies.
The course also acquaints participants with federal and state purchase, transportation and storage regulations.
Experienced blasters and engineers may use the course as both a refresher and an update on new products, blasting techniques and regulations. They can also enhance their blasting knowledge and skills through the course.
Conference program information is available by contacting Worsey at 573-341-4317 or pworsey@mst.edu.
For registration information, contact the Missouri S&T distance and continuing education office at 573-341-4442 or email dce@mst.edu or huskeytr@mst.edu.
