John A. Thornhill, of Rolla, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at the age of 86.
He was born on August 31, 1926 in Spring Creek, MO to James Thornhill and Sarah (Wilkinson) Thornhill. He married Mildred (Ragan) Thornhill who preceded him in death in August of 2003.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII. He will be deeply missed by his family, close friends and all who knew him. He was a man with a big heart.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Barbara Elizabeth, Sarah Ellen, James Robert, William Leonard, Jesse Marvin, Lydia Pearl, Cora Mae, Charles Raymond and John Adam.
He will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes: one daughter, Deana Reich and husband Richard of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Megan Boyer of Colorado Springs, CO, Petty Officer 2nd Class (U.S. Navy) Matthew Boyer of Virginia Beach, VA and Mandy Reich of Colorado Springs, CO; six great grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley Hackworth of Rolla.
A funeral service for John A. Thornhill will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Kenneth Campbell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Waynesville. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
