  • A student at the Missouri University of Science and Technology has died as a result of head injuries after he fell “while in an intoxicated state,” according to Rolla police.
According to a Rolla Police Department press release, Andrew Menner, 23, of Ellisville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, as a result of injuries he suffered from the fall.
At around 10:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, central communications in Rolla received a 911 medical call regarding a subject who was unresponsive and having difficulty breathing.
Emergency personnel responded to the 200 block of East 12th Street and located the unresponsive subject, who turned out to be Menner.
Menner was transported to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center and was soon transferred to a hospital in St. Louis for further treatment. He later died Tuesday and the next of kin was notified.
Preliminary information received indicated that Menner had sustained trauma to the head.
An investigation initiated by the RPD’s division of criminal investigation determined that Menner had fallen and struck his head while in an intoxicated state on the night of Nov. 15.
At this time the death is believed to have been accidental in nature, according to police.
Menner was residing in Rolla, while attending Missouri S&T, where he was a senior in the civil engineering program. He also was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Menner is the second member of the fraternity to die in less than a month. On Nov. 9, Aaron R. Cobb, 21, of Olathe, Kan., a senior civil engineering major at Missouri S&T, died in a car crash.
