  • Nine people were taken to the hospital after a school bus struck the rear of a passenger car on 10th Street Monday afternoon.

“We got a call at 3:56 p.m. and the officer arrived at 3:57 p.m.,” Police Chief Mark Kearse told the Daily News.

“Both vehicles, the bus and the passenger car, were eastbound on 10th Street at Greenbriar,” the chief said. “The car stopped for a left turn. The bus rear-ended the passenger car.”

Kearse said the initial call came from an official at the school bus barn who said there were no injuries.
“But when the officer arrived at the scene, there were seven children from the bus transported to the hospital,” Kearse said. “There were no visibile injuries. The kids were complaining of headaches, aches and pains from the jolt.”

Four people were in the passenger car, the chief said, two children and two adults.

“Both adults were also transported,” he said. Again, there were no visible injuries, but the individuals complained of aches.

Names were not available at press time.

The driver of the car was cited for driving without an operator’s license, the chief said. “She was one who went to the hospital.”
