A Blackjack Battle featuring players from area Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) posts will take place Monday, Nov. 12, starting at 3 p.m. at the Leach Theatre on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus.
The theater is located in Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets. There is free admission to the event.
VFW members are invited from Rolla, Lebanon, St. Robert, St. James and Sullivan to be featured. All participants must be present at 2:30 p.m.
The Blackjack Battle will include 35 members on five blackjack tables set up with $10,000 of chips for each member to gamble as best they can for 30 minutes as a timed preliminary round.
After a 20-minute break, the top seven players will be tallied and enter the championship table competing for the two top prize packages, including an electronic bingo system 100 machine worth $8,000 or a 51-inch plasma TV and three prize packages in all.
Biographies, pictures and interviews will illustrate awareness for the local Missouri VFW posts.
The battle will be available on DVD for each local VFW and all sponsors after production.
Local Army and Navy active duty members also will be on hand.
Fidelity Local 6 and the Missouri State Veterans are sponsoring the event.
