  • 32nd annual St. Nick’s benefit set for Dec. 11

  • The 32nd annual St. Nick’s Benefit, sponsored by the Fort Leonard Wood Lions Club, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Grant Hall, Building 2100 from 8 a.m. to noon. A ceremony will be held from 10-11:30 a.m.
    The benefit will help provide Christmas gifts to the local military community, Head Start of Pulaski County, B. W. Robinson State School in Rolla, Boys and Girls Town of St. James, Children’s Division Foster Care Program of Pulaski County, Piney Ridge Center, Inc. and Choices for People of Rolla.
    People can help by signing up to be a sponsor by providing a donation. Email atstnicksflw@embarqmail.com or contact any member of the St. Nick’s Benefit Committee to obtain a form. Then sponsors will receive information about a child or special adult for them to sponsor with a Christmas gifts.
    People also can send a donation to FLW Lions Club St. Nick’s Benefit, P.O. Box 331, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473-0331 and organizers will do the shopping for those individuals.
    Gifts in the range of $40 to $70 should be purchased and can be dropped off as early as Nov. 28 and no later than Dec. 5, at the Mid Missouri Credit Union at Fort Leonard Wood, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Last year the event helped 1,032 children or special adults.
