  • Readers of all ages can likely find what they are looking for over the next few days at the Friends of the Rolla Public Library book sale.
During the three-day event, shoppers can find some books for possible Christmas gifts all while supporting the Rolla Public Library.
The Friends of the Library holds two book sales each year. A sale was held earlier this year in June.
This event will run from Thursday, Nov. 1 through Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Rolla Public Library in Downtown Rolla.
Members of the Friends of the Library organization will have first dibs on the sale collection, as the sale opens Thursday evening strictly for members.
Starting Thursday at 5 p.m., members of the Friends of the Library get first pick or if people join at that time, they can get first pick. Memberships costs $5 for seniors and students, $10 for individuals and $25 for families.
On Friday, doors will be open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, shoppers can fill a bag for $1.
All proceeds will go to the library, which helps purchase computers, printers, books and other needs for the library.
“Some people think they are just library discards, but most of these are donations,” said Friends of the Library member Debbie Prator.
“We have a lot of books on cooking, history and even car repair manuals,” Prator said. There are children's books, VHS tapes, CDs, magazines and books on tape as well as books in large print.
Most paperback books are 50 cents and hardback books are $1. Most of the newer books cost more.
