James Ralph “Jim” Brantley, of Rolla, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the age of 65.
He was born in Monticello, Arkansas to Ralph G. and Minnie Evelyn (Witt) Brantley.
Jim graduated High School in 1965 from Troy, MO where he was a talented athlete and basketball player.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1967-1974 in Korea and Vietnam.
He continued to enjoy playing basketball in his adult years, as well as fishing and listening to country music.
He was a member of the Salem Avenue Baptist Church in Rolla.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Brantley, on May 12, 2000; his brother, Richard Everett Brantley on August 19, 2005; and his grandparents.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his mother, Evelyn Brantley, of Rolla; sister, Barbara Wright and husband John, of Yorktown, VA; sister-in-law, Cynthia Brantley, of Springfield, MO; two nephews, Jefferson Brantley Bailey and wife Teresa, of Williamsburg, VA, and Bryan H. Bailey and wife Kasey, of Greenville, WI; a niece, Megan Leigh Brantley, of Springfield, MO; as well as four grand nephews and one grand niece.
A funeral service for Jim Brantley will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Null & Son Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service Thursday beginning at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salem Avenue Baptist Church.
