Riley Ogden Godfrey, 84, of Rolla, Missouri, passed away on October 15, 2012 at the VA Home in St. James, Missouri.

He was born in Binger, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1928 to Loyd and Jennie (Thompson) Godfrey. On November 25, 1952 he married Mabel (Harmon) Godfrey in Nash, Oklahoma. He retired as a Major after 22 years in the Air Force as a pilot of B-25’s, KC-97’s and KC-135’s which included 141 combat missions. His second career was as a cattle and crops farmer for 40 years.

His last wish was to donate his body to medical research, training, and professional educational projects, in order to advance healthcare and improve patient quality of life. The family was able to honor this request with the assistance of Science Care, Inc.

He is survived by his wife Mabel, his daughter Deborah (Godfrey) Jaquay and son Dennis Godfrey and his wife Christina. He also had three grandsons; Nicholas Godfrey, Matthew and wife Silja Jaquay and David and wife Jennifer Jaquay and three great-grandsons; Erik and Paul Jaquay and Corbin Jaquay.

There will be a memorial service celebrating his life on November 17, 2012 from 1-3 p.m. in the chapel at the VA Home in St. James, Missouri.
