  • A three-vehicle accident that occurred Friday morning in Rolla in the 1700 block of North Highway 63 near Vichy Road sent two people to the hospital.
According to a Rolla Police Department incident report, the accident involved a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina owned by Gregory Curtis, of Rolla, and driven by Kaden M. Curtis, of Rolla; a 2012 Nissan Maxima owned and driven by Harold J. McCurdy Jr., of Rolla; and 1996 Ford Econoline van owned and driven by David E. Dwyer, of Rocheport.
The accident occurred when the Chevrolet exited a private parking lot and struck the driver side rear quarter panel of the Nissan, which was traveling northbound on Highway 63 as McCurdy began to accelerate to avoid the crash.
When the two cars made impact, the Nissan, while accelerating, spun toward the southbound lane of Highway 63 and traveled across the turning lane into the southbound lane. The Nissan was then struck by the Ford and the Nissan continued traveling northbound across the sidewalk and came to a rest in a private parking lot.
The Ford, upon impact, spun north and came to a rest, facing north partially in the southbound Highway 63 lane and across the sidewalk.
McCurdy was transported by EMS to Phelps County Regional Medical Center for head lacerations and a broken left wrist. His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
The Ford also sustained moderate damage and was towed. A passenger in the Ford was transported by EMS for back and neck pain but was later released. Dwyer suffered no injuries.
The Chevrolet sustained minor damage and both occupants made complaint of neck pain but denied medical treatment.
